Traditional South Indian Upma Recipe – Easy and Healthy Breakfast

Introduction

Upma is one of the most popular South India .it is very well known dish preparing fast food in india. upma is very great food to eat it delicious and magnificent recipe which upma creates aromatic recipe and it is very good in heat and gives a fragrance of aroma of typical masala rawa roast and it is very good to eat and prepares in 30 minutes .upma is a nutritious food in our single food

A well-prepared upma has a fresh spicy aroma and solid fluffy texture of rawa it has a fragrance  and solid taste .It is usually  to be served hot with coconut chutney, pickle, or a cup of tea or coffee.


Ingredients Required

To prepare a tasty upma recipe in india

  • 1 cup semolina 

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil or ghee

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 tablespoon split black gram 

  • 1 tablespoon Bengal gram 

  • 8–10 cashew nuts

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1–2 green chilies, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • 8–10 curry leaves

  • 2½ cups water

  • Salt according to taste

  • A small pinch of sugar (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped


Preparation Method

Step 1: Roasting of rawa

take a pan and place it on heating flame and heat it. Add the rava on the  roast it when heating the pan.Staute it continuously  5 to 6 minutes when it becomes aroma and slightly changes to yellow color. Roasting the rawa on pan removes excess water and moisture and preventes it from stickyness of rawa . Once roasted, take it transfer it to a separate plate and keep it aside.

Step 2: Prepare the mixture

In the same pan, heat oil . Add mustard seeds to crackle down on the pan. Adding of cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and cashew nuts. Frying  them on  until the mixture turn into  golden brown colour and slightly roast the cashews into slightly brown colour 

Next, add the  curry leaves, chopped green chilies, and small pieces of ginger . Sauté for a few seconds to smell a fragrance of aroma . Then adding of finely chopped onions and cooked  until they become soft and transparent

Step 3: Add Water to mixture

add the water to the pan and admire it add salt to mixture for taste. You may also add a small amount of sugar to balance the aroma and taste . Allow them to the water to came to the a rolling boil. This step is important because adding rava to propellly to boiling mixture

Step 4: Mixing of  the Rava

Reduce the flame to low and slowly add the rawa into the mixture and continuously stir it after the boiling water and formation of lumps inside the water and it is very carefully of mixing of rawa

After all the rawa is added close the lid to 3 to 5 minutes when the rawa will absorb the water and raw becomes very nice to eat 

Step 5: Final Touch

Switch off the flame and gently saute the mixture and put the slices of coriander and curry leaves to the mixture which gives tangy and spicy in nature
